About

30+ Years of Festivities

Scarecrow Fest began in 1985 with a few contest entries in St. Charles, Illinois’ Lincoln Park.  It has grown from a small community festival to a nationally recognized festival attracting over 100,000 over the three-day Columbus Day weekend.

The Fest has grown, but it has not forgotten its roots.  The Contest and the Make Your Own Scarecrow key events that have sustained the autumn tradition for over 30 years.

The 2017 Fest will have an exciting new tradition called the Greater St. Charles Farm Tour, where visitors have the opportunity to tour up to six diverse farms, during the Fest weekend.

The 2017 Fest is organized by Greater St. Charles, Illinois CVB in partnership with Ravenswood Event Services and JMF Events.
